From ancient times in Russia, the female part of the population in the winter was engaged in needlework.
Weaving then occupied a special place. Throughout the fall and part of the winter, our grandmothers spun flax.
And closer to spring, looms from the closets got out, tuned them and wove the canvases.
There was then no abundance of factory manufacture. And there was never any money for it.
